8/26/2025: The Battle with the Revenants Shifts

The battle in the fog continues. Nike can hear Ratrick, somewhere in the mists, screaming Ilya’s name. The boy lay somewhere, hidden from view by the murk, dying. She can also hear Zilk swinging mightily, connecting with the armor of the revenant. From the grunts of what might be pain, she can tell he might be slowly gaining the upper hand, but it is hard to tell. She slashes her magical dagger, frustrated that she misses as the creatures sidesteps her swing.

Novaril sends his drake into the mists, instructing the large reptile to find and protect Ilya, whom he has heard cry out. The great lizard scuttles off, tail whipping side to side, and disappears into the fog.  

The revenant, locked in combat with Zilk, swings at the bugbear with a pair of powerful fists, striking only a single, glancing blow. Zilk shakes off the pain and doubles down on his opponent with gritted teeth. The revenant twists, deflecting the blows, and catches Zilk with a crushing blow, driving the bugbear to the floor where he lay, dying from the devastating strength behind it.

From the door of the chapel, Shifty flings a pair of Sacred Flames, missing both times. In frustration, he wheels, blasting one of the decaying chairs in the dining room behind him. 

Two dozen steps away, Biblo parries with another vile smelling revenant, the gouts of fire crackling from his flame-tongue trident. The creature sinks, erupting in flames, and becomes deathly still. The dragonborn sprints to assist Ratrick, who is somewhere close by in the fog, desperately trying to stanch Ilya’s bleeding. 

One of the revenants swings at Ratrick, knocking him backward. The rogue has been able to bind the Boy’s wounds, saving the boy, only to be dealt a rocking blow from a mighty fist. The revenant then turns and collapses. the drake, causing it to disappear in a fiery flash.

Nike, realizing that the revenants are gaining an upper hand, conjures a Minor Illusion spell, causes the voice of the spirit of the silver dragon, Argynvost, to scream from the far corner, outside of the fog. Although Nike does not see it, the three remaining revenants turn toward the sound and begin to move toward it.
